1.1. Introduction to Green Cars
The sections that follow cover the many and varied alternative methods being used to power what is called an environmentally friendly (Green) car.
These “Green Cars” are designed to produce lower levels of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. See Green Cars. Section 2.
Fuels other than the fossil fuels of petrol and diesel have an important role.
These “alterative fuels”, such biofuel and hydrogen, are being derived from renewable or sustainable sources. See Green Cars. Section 3.
When two methods of propulsion are used in one car the vehicle is called a Hybrid. See Green Cars. Section 9.
The subject can be explored in much greater depth via the many specialist web site links listed in Green Cars, Section 10.
