2.1 Early Cars - Four Sources of Fuel

    • Water: To produce steam
    • Electricity: A battery type device
    • Gas: Referred to as coal gas, stove gas or town gas.
    • Petroleum Derived Liquids: (1) Petrol or gasoline - frequently shortened to the word “gas” in North America. (2) Diesel fuel. (3) Kerosene.
    • Note: The word “gas” used in this concise history refers to coal, stove or town gas, not “gasoline” or “petrol”.
