8.3   The First Automotive Fuel Cell Vehicle 
    • In 1966 General Motors in the USA produced a fuel cell powered vehicle called the “Electrovan”.

    • The Union Carbide 5kw fuel cell used super-cooled liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.

    • The van had a top speed of up to 70 mph (112 kph) and a maximum range of 120 miles (192 km). 

    • The vehicle was only used on company property.
