In 1995 the company produced its first electric car, the Peugeot 106 electric. A year later, in 1996, it started production of the Citroen Saxo electric.
Within 5 years, in May 2000, the company announced that it had produced 5,000 electric cars: 2,200 Citroën AX and Saxo EVs and 2,800 Peugeot 106 EVs.
