: The first vehicle to be powered by a fuel cell was an Allis-Chalmers tractor in
1959
.
The 15kw alkali fuel cell used compressed hydrogen and oxygen as the reactants and potassium hydroxides as the electrolyte.
In
1962
Allis-Chalmers produced a golf-cart powered by a 4kW alkaline fuel cell.
